Review of the iProp universal tablet stand
The iProp universal tablet stand is a self-stabilizing tablet stand that you can adjust to any angle. It is designed to make using a tablet convenient in any situation, as well as to prevent eye and neck strain. It is available in black or silver.
Design and features
The iProp has two parts. The base is a beanbag made of a silicone mesh material that holds a sealed pouch of microbeads.
It has a small zipper that lets you remove the beanbag and clean it if needed. The beanbag has a leather handle with the iProp logo on it. The front of the bag has four metal button closures to attach it to the second part, the faceplate, which holds your tablet or smartphone.
The faceplate is made of hard plastic material. The non-slip shelf at the bottom of the faceplate is 18mm wide, which makes it compatible with a tablet with its cover on. The back part of the faceplate has the four metal buttons to attach it to the beanbag.
The iProp beanbag looks cute and soft. The materials used are of good quality and feel durable.
Putting it to test
The iProp was ready for use out of the box. We placed it on different surfaces to see if it could stabilize itself to any surface, as advertised. We also tested its ability to hold a tablet at any angle for perfect viewing.
I used an iPad 4s with the iProp. I put the iProp stand on my lap when sitting, on my belly when lying down, at my side on the bed, on a couch, on a granite surface, and many other places. The iProp stabilized itself in every case thanks to the automatically shifting microbeads. It kept the iPad in place when I was browsing the Internet and when I was typing messages. When I typed on my iPad, it shifted slightly, but not enough to be distracting or uncomfortable. I could use the iPad both horizontally and vertically. Next, I put a flip case on the iPad to see if it would still fit in the iProp. It fit nicely, and the case helped reduce shifting as I typed with both hands.
The silicone mesh material of the beanbag helps it grip slick surfaces. When I put the iProp on a granite surface and used my tablet, it did not slip. When I sat down, I placed the iProp on its back in my lap and bent it slightly toward me so the iPad was perfectly leveled and facing right toward me. I tried many other angles and placements of the iProp, and it worked perfectly every time. It kept the tablet in place, leaving my hands free. The iProp could reduce neck and eye strain given the endless options of placements and angles.
The iProp is an ingeniously designed tablet stand. It is compatible with any tablet that is less than 18mm in depth, and you can use it with a smartphone, too. Most importantly, it works on practically any surface. It holds your tablet in place so your hands are free for typing, drinking coffee, cooking, and so on. HomeGear gives it its highest rating, 4 Lights On: Excellent and Highly Recommended.
