Honestech VHS to DVD 5.0

Honestech VHS to DVD video converter

The Recording Process

Video:

Once all the cables were connected properly and the software was installed and running, I inserted a VHS cassette containing 30 minutes of video from my childhood into the VCR and pressed the play button. The video immediately started to play in the software window on my computer monitor. From there, the software offers several recording options. First, I tried the wizard and burnt the converted video on to a DVD. The video quality was great. Next, I tried another VHS cassette with a video length of 90 minutes. I had to change the software's default settings to accommodate this length, because the default recording length is 70 minutes maximum. Again, I got a high-quality video conversion with no lapse between audio and video. This time, I wanted to store it on my hard disk rather than burning it to a DVD, which was no problem. The software features many options for video quality, duration, burning or storing facilities.

Audio:

I wanted to record audio from my cassette tapes, but this set does not provide a cable for connecting a cassette player to the Vidbox. Fortunately, I had a 3.5mm to RCA jack to connect my cassette player with the Vidbox. I connected the devices and then recorded audio, stored it on my hard disk, and played it back. It had a decent sound quality, but I noticed a hissing noise in the background. To fix this, I tweaked the noise level and other audio recording options and got a hiss-free, high-quality converted audio (.wma) file on my hard disk ready to be burned onto a CD.

Recording video games:

The video game recording feature is a great addition to this converter system. I am a gamer, and there have been times when I've done things in my games that are unbelievably awesome, and I want to share them with the world. If you have had this experience, you will enjoy this converter's compatibility with the Xbox, PlayStation, Wii gaming consoles.

I tried this feature with my PlayStation. Again, I had to dig up the AV multi-plug that came with the game console to be able to connect it to the Vidbox. The Vidbox was already connected with my computer, so I plugged the USB cord into one end of the AV multi-plug into the USB port of the PlayStation and the other end into the ports corresponding to their colors. I turned on my PlayStation and started to play a game. I played for about 5 minutes and then turned to my PC to see how the software captured my gaming. It was a very high quality recording. Gamers will love this feature of Honestech VHS to DVD 5.0 Deluxe, because it allows them to show off their skills even when no one is there at the time to watch.
