Review of the GolfSense 3 Swing Analyzer System
GolfSense 3 is a golf training aid system that helps you improve your swings. The GolfSense System is a combination of a motion sensor and a free downloadable app that is compatible with Apple iOS and Android devices. The app collects data from the motion sensor via Bluetooth. After you attach the motion sensor to your glove, then pair it with your mobile device, and start swinging. Now, the app will give you a wealth of information about each swing.
What is in the box?
GolfSense 3 comes in an attractive package that includes the GolfSense 3D motion sensor, a charging dock, a USB charging cable, and a user's guide.
GolfSense 3D motion sensor
The 3D motion sensor is lightweight (0.6 oz) and small (2.59 x 1.53 x 0.47 inch). The device has a smooth, sleek look and feels durable. The dongle is so light that you can hardly even feel it when it is attached to your golf glove.
The GolfSense 3D motion sensor has two rubber straps on its back. To attach the sensor to your glove, slide the motion sensor over the Velcro closure of your glove. The motion sensor has a yellow button that you press and hold for three seconds to turn the device on.
According to Zepp Lab, once fully charged, the motion sensor can record swing data continuously for five hours. The motion sensor takes 2.5 hours to fully charge via the included charging dock.
The GolfSense app provides a variety of information organized into three main panels or screens. The center panel is your Swing screen. The right panel contains your entire swing history. You can sort your swing history by date, by club type, and by favorites. Tap the icon on the top left of the Swing screen to get to the main menu. From there, you can customize settings, manage your clubs, see statistics, and more.
The most exciting feature of GolfSense 3 is its SwingScore, which allows you to measure the quality of every swing. GolfSense 3 uses several metrics to score your swings. In order to get your SwingScore, you need to set your Swing goals by fine-tuning each of the metrics (Tempo, Backswing position, Club plane, Hand plane comparison, and Clubhead speed). The app lets you choose from preset goals such as Senior, Amateur, or Professional, or you can completely customize the values of each metric by dragging the sliders.
You can access your swing details from the dashboard. All of your goals are color coded according to your performance. Green numbers mean you've done well, yellow numbers show that you need improvement, and red numbers are your weaknesses. You can go to a focus screen by tapping on any color coded number.
Another great feature of the GolfSense 3 app is the ability to rapidly get to each of your swings for the day. You just drag your finger along the tick marks at the right side of the screen and select a certain swing to see details about it.
The small arrow at the bottom of the screen brings you to a submenu that allows you to select Hand path and Club path, compare your swings, or share them on Facebook, Twitter, or via email. You can change clubs easily by tapping the club icon, and you can sort through all of the clubs in your account.
The Analyze button takes you to Lab Reports screen. The Lab Report shows all sessions or days. Tapping on a day pulls up a detailed report page that displays how you did against your goals on that particular day. Tapping the small bar chart on this screen will display a graph showing your score consistency on any given metrics. You can share these reports on Twitter or Facebook.
The GolfSense 3 app is compatible with a wide range of mobile devices. It supports any iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with iOS 5.0 or later and any Android Smartphones and Tablets with OS version 4.0 or later.
