D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure

Review of the D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay network storage enclosure

Anyone who uses a computer knows the importance of data storage space. It has become so easy to store movies, photos, pictures, certificates, business documents, books and much more on our computers. For some people, it seems like no matter what type of storage device they buy, they are always running out of space. For these space-hungry users, we now have the D-Link DNS-323, also known as the 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure.

Convenient storage for all your stuff

The DNS-323 is very similar to an external hard drive and has the capability to store a huge amount of data. It connects directly into a network via a FireWire or a USB cable. The D-Link DNS-323 looks solid and compact. All the ports are located in the rear of the device. The hard-drive bay cover is on the front, along with the power button and three blue activity status LEDs - one for each hard drive and one for the network port.

The DNS-323 doesn't come with hard drives, which allows you to choose whatever storage capacity you need. The device easily accepts two 3.5-inch SATA hard drives of any capacity in RAID configurations. One major advantage of the DNS-323, beyond its impressive storage capabilities, is that it can also share data across a network without the need of a host PC.

Features that everyone can enjoy

When in use, the read and write functions to and from the DNS are smooth. The DNS-323 has several backup alternatives to protect your data, including RAID 1, 0, and JBOD. In addition, the device can serve as a USB print server, permitting you to share a single USB printer with your entire network. Other features of the D-Link 323 include support for iTunes and universal plug-and-play audio/video servers. This is extremely useful for people who like to watch movies and listen to music constantly.

The D-Link DNS-323 has excelled in its performance in numerous test runs. Another key advantage of this device is that it functions exactly like a solid state drive -very quiet and cool even during long hours of activity.

The $200 D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure is a great device for those who want serious storage capabilities. The DNS-323 comes with a one-year warranty. The company's website (www.dlink.com) provides additional useful information regarding support software downloads.
