Review of the A4TECH G11-570HX-4 wireless rechargable mouse
A4Tech has been adding many innovative features to its line of computer mouse products. Recently, it integrated its patented SynchroTECH technology into the G11 wireless series mice. This technology ensures that the RF signal sent from an A4TECH G11 series mouse to the receiver attached to a USB port on your desktop or laptop is perfectly synchronized. This eliminates sluggish control, cursor jumping, and other precision issues common to wireless mice.
What’s in the box?
The A4TECH G11-570HX-4 mouse comes in a plastic box with a receiver, a USB charging cable, a compact disk containing drivers and software, and a user manual.
Design and features
The A4TECH G11-570HX-4 is a right-handed mouse. It sports seven buttons, two of which have special purposes. One is the DPI (dots per inch) button, which lets you select the DPI settings from five options: 800, 1000, 1200, 1600, or 2000 DPI. The other special button, located between the left- and right-click buttons, is called the office shuttle. You can set it to perform different actions such as screen capturing. However, these two buttons only work if you install the software included with the mouse. Two other buttons are located on the mouse’s left side. They can be used while playing games or using Graphics-heavy software. The seventh button is the mouse’s scroll wheel.
The A4TECH G11-570HX-4 mouse’s scroll wheel works as 4-way wheel (vertical and horizontal scrolling) if you install the bundled software. The wheel works smoothly and quietly. The wheel blinks red when the battery is running low and turns red while charging. Once fully charged, the red light turns off automatically. This wireless mouse has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
The bottom of the mouse contains the receiver storage compartment and the lens. A4TECH incorporated their signature HoleLESS engine in the G11 series mouses. This means that the G11-570HX-4’s lens is protected from dust, water, and other debris that could accumulate on it and block its signal.
The A4TECH G11-570HX-4 is solidly constructed. It looks nice, feels durable, and fits comfortably under your hand.
The A4Tech G11-570HX-4 works best when set to its default DPI settings. The cursor control is very smooth. It does not jump or stutter while moving. However, if you want use the maximum setting of 2000 DPI, you must install the included software. We installed the software and set the DPI to 2000. It made the cursor move too slowly. The software is poorly designed, and it took us a while to get used to the software and different options.
On the positive side, the G11-570HX-4 worked perfectly when we used it on Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe Photoshop CS3, and with the game Darksiders. It worked better without the software. Installing the software and tweaking it to make different buttons of the mouse work is tedious and not really worth the trouble. Most users will be content with the built-in features of the mouse. The mouse’s RF reception was good. We did not face any control or lag problems while using the mouse. As advertised, it works 15 meters away from the receiver. However, if you want to play games, you should keep the mouse within 5 meters of the receiver for optimal results.
The A4Tech G11-570HX-4 wireless mouse gives better precision than regular mouse. The mouse’s control was smooth, fast, and precise until we installed the software. Luckily, uninstalling the software solved the problem. The A4Tech G11-570HX-4 should last longer than other wireless mice, thanks to its HoleLESS design and rechargeable lithium ion battery. This mouse is advertised as having a 4-way scroll wheel and five DPI settings, which is only true if you install the troublesome software. If it had not been advertised in this way, HomeGear Lab would have given it a 4 Lights On rating.
